 1 Corinthians 14:15 says: "What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."

Taken from a rich tapestry woven from beloved hymn, gospels songs, and contemporary choruses,
our music aims to lift spirits, teach, preach, and unify the faithful.
These aims come to life in many areas.

Congregational singing and "Favorite Hymn Times" when hearts and voices join together.

Our choir invigorates congregational singing, provides special selections to deepen our worship,
and celebrates Christmas, Easter, and other important events in the Christian life.

We host music groups such as the Deep South Dulcimer Association and Jam'n Folks whose music and authentic instruments speak to a community spirit of unity and good will.

Mary Couey, our gifted pianist and vocalist, has served as president of the Mobile Piano Ensemble, the Mobile Association of Music Teachers, and chair of the Piano Guild of Mobile. She has established a highly respected piano studio, directed youth choirs, and has taught music fundamentals to our children, and directed our VBS music program.

Our director emeritus and organist, Dr. Bergdolt (Dr. B) and Colleen, have been committed to the spirit and
understanding of music of the church throughout their lives. They recognize the blessing it has been to serve with the people of the First Baptist Church of Chickasaw.

The blessing of serving and learning through music is open to all, from youth to adults. Come join us at the First Baptist Church of Chickasaw, as we sing and play instruments to the Lord and one another with spirit and understanding.
